Thaïs, Girl of Joy – Comedy

THAÏS Prostitute Starring Thaïs Directed by: Stéphane Casez Written by: Thaïs Vauquières, Stéphane Casez, Paul Brinio Family meals are like prostate screenings: they’re compulsory once a year and they hit a sore spot. Since Thaïs was fed up with spending a fortune on therapy, she decided to turn it into a show. And what could be better than getting together with the family when you’re 33, single, childless, a freelance performer, a redhead, prone to eczema and, above all, a comedian? Then again, as she often says, ‘Jesus was dead by the time he was 33, wasn’t he?’ In her new show, Thaïs Vauquières takes us on a wild ride through an explosive evening where we meet a vegan cousin, a father having a moment of revelation, a very open-minded mother, and family secrets that come spilling out just as the mood plummets the moment Uncle opens his mouth. Amidst impulse phobias, respiratory and food allergies – but above all social anxieties – she delivers a performance that is as hilarious as it is touching.
