From August 10 to 16, at the Espace Carnot in Châtelaillon-Plage, Soiz'L and Mireille Cornu are presenting an exhibition of sculptures and paintings in which material, color, and stone bring to life works imbued with emotion, imagination, and freedom.

About "SOIZ'L": I have always been drawn to clay as a medium; for me, it is a source of creativity that allows the imagination to run free. My work focuses primarily on the human form and its symbolic significance. My sculptures are fired and then patinated. Although I had no formal art training initially, I attended evening classes at a fine arts school for nearly three years. After completing this training in 2009, I began participating in exhibitions. About Mireille Cornu: I began drawing and painting in my youth. After spending some time in the studio, I gravitated towards palette-knife painting. I love the texture, the colors, and the freedom of expression it offers me. Then, about twenty years ago, I discovered sculpture—a complementary pursuit. The approach to sculpture is very different; you work in 3D and remove material. I prefer working with marble. My process relies on two techniques: direct carving—bringing a creation out of the raw block—and carving based on a prepared design. Dreams, pleasure, and emotion find expression in my paintings and sculptures.
