"Mémo’ARTS" of the Sea As the granddaughter, daughter, and sister of commercial fishermen, I have always lived in a world defined by a rugged existence and intense emotions. Although I am a painter, I never depicted that life on canvas; I felt I could not do it justice. Then, I began collecting driftwood and fragments of broken, beached boats along the shore—objects that were already true works of art, sculpted by the sea and the sand. With these materials, I finally found a way to pay a beautiful tribute to Brittany, the maritime world, and its fishermen. Before becoming a canvas for artistic expression, each piece requires a lengthy preparation process—drying and the like—to determine the "future design" for these boat remnants. I paint with acrylics, giving free rein to my childhood memories. It is with tenderness, emotion, and humor that I interpret—in my own way—this maritime life that is so dear to me: fishermen returning to port with their quirky catches; others, hands in their pockets, scanning the horizon and talking—naturally—about fishing and the weather; the mackerel and the gurnard... seagulls huddled close together, waiting for the storm to pass...
