Fred, newly divorced, is about to spend his first Christmas Eve alone. To escape the blues of Christmas alone, he arrives at the home of Hugo, his lifelong friend, who has no special plans.
But Hugo's wife, Corine, takes a dim view of Fred's arrival, who embodies everything she hates: a self-confident self-made man, an inveterate cavorter, and an often inappropriate sense of humor.
To balance things out, she invites her sister to the rescue. Unluckily, her sister gets stuck in a snowstorm, which also causes a blackout!
That's when Nadia, their charming neighbor and anthropology student, arrives on the scene. The evening quickly descends into chaos: Fred, seduced by Nadia, rushes to make advances under Hugo's critical eye, while the hidden truths about Corine and Hugo's sterility finally come out.
A year later, we meet up with our four protagonists for a finale that's as surprising as it is delightful.
