After his fabulous round-the-world run, the runner connects the world's great holy cities in daily stages of between 60 and 80 kilometers, from the forecourt of Notre-Dame de Paris to Lhasa, the sacred city of Tibetan Buddhists.
From Bernadette Soubirous' grotto in Lourdes to the grotto where the patriarch Abraham was born in Mesopotamia, Jamel Balhi takes us to the heights of Mount Moses in the Sinai desert. From Jerusalem, the crossroads of the monotheistic faiths, we continue on to the Kaaba in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, among the faithful who have come from the four corners of the globe to make the pilgrimage to the Muslim holy city.
After a year's journey, we reach Benares and its mythical Ganges, in a concert of sounds and colors typical of India.
At the end of a long journey through the Himalayas, the surreal vision of the Dalai Lama's former residence, the Potala Palace, emerges. Jamel Balhi set off to meet men, women and children, believers and non-believers alike. Imbued with a profound humanity, his images convey a formidable message of hope.
