From the city of Saint-Louis in the north to Cap-Skirring in the far south, via the island of Gorée, Lake Rose, the Lompoul desert and the Siné-Saloum region, the film takes you on a journey of discovery through a country rich in history and culture. Senegal conceals hidden treasures and a wide range of landscapes, all punctuated by encounters with the country's different ethnic groups. The Wolofs in the west, the Peuls in the Senegal River valley, the Sérères in the Siné Saloum, the Diolas in Casamance...
The film sets out to meet its inhabitants and, through them, attempt to define the notion of Teranga, Senegalese hospitality, by putting into perspective Senegal's colonial past, its slave-owning realities of another era and the current face of a kaleidoscope country undermined by a constraining economic situation but truly open to the world. Told in the first person, this journey along the coast of far West Africa is an intimate experience, inspired by the rhythm of the waves and the richness of encounters. At once poetic and documentary, sensitive and informative, this film delivers a unique, deeply human testimony.
