In 1878, Robert Louis Stevenson, a young Scottish travel writer, set off on an extraordinary trek through the south of France. It was from this adventure that his famous story Voyage avec un âne dans les Cévennes was born.
Philippe and Maricris Jacq follow in the adventurer's footsteps, accompanied by their donkey Lola.
Their journey takes them across the granite plateaus of Velay, the highlands of Gévaudan, to the abbey of Notre-Dame-des-Neiges, where Stevenson made a stopover. They then climb the windy ridges of Mont Lozère, before plunging into the land of the Camisards, in the heart of the "Cévenne des Cévennes".
"Cévenne des Cévennes", before reaching Saint-Jean-du-Gard, the final destination of this mythical journey.
A 220-kilometer journey rich in stories, encounters and discoveries, through the splendid mid-mountain landscapes of Haute-Loire, Lozère, Ardèche and Gard.
