The forest, which today covers a third of France, is a place both familiar and mysterious, a place of fears, myths and imagination, but also a place of essential resources and a fragile ecosystem that must be protected and allowed to flourish.
Four years of trekking and investigation have enabled us to draw up an overview of the French forests, including emblematic sites such as the forests of Huelgoat and Brocéliande in Brittany, Bercé in the Sarthe, the forests of the Ardennes, Morvan, Mont Aigoual in the Cévennes, Iraty in the Pyrenees and Grande Chartreuse in the Alps.
During our hikes, we meet researchers and forest lovers. Alain Persuy, forester and ecologist, explains the complexity of the forest environment, Frédéric Bedel, forestry engineer at the ONF, shares his vision of the forest, and Geoffroy Delhorme, author of the book l'homme-chevreuil, shares his unique experience: six years of immersion with roe deer in the Louviers forest.
